Project Details: Bedford Kitchen Remodel
"I want to live in my kitchen!" declares the owner of this newly remodeled kitchen. "The increased storage... is wonerful." "cooking in it is a dream." "Entertaining is a blast." And all of this happiness was created in 210 square feet of space. This kitchen was renovated to make an open space, and a simple, elegant design with fine detailing.
Special Design Features:
A floor to ceiling pantry cabinet for canned and dry goods was added on one side of the refrigerator. A set of drawers was added on the other, providing storage for bread, snacks, potatoes, onions, garlic such. This storage wall arrangement works especially well when groceries are being unpacked. A stretch of contertop does triple duty, serving as a resting place for things going to and from the porch, and for bar service. Directly behind this space ( on the back of the center island) is a wine caddy and a cabinet for liquor storage. The island is central to the entire great room. With the sink positioned here, a second food preparation center doubles as a cleanup center island means the cooks can visite face to face with people gathering around. A dual waste unit pulls out on the right of the sink, and a wide top drawer makes knives and utensils very accessible. The dishwasher sets on the end of the island. A tall cabinet stands nearby for dishes. The professional style cooktop and hood take command of the cooking center and are covered with cabinets that hold utensils, pot holders, and other things needed in that space.
"The combination resulted in the kitchen of our dreas." "I can't wait to get home from work and walk into the doorway!" Music to the ears of a designer!
